Obamas Tell All to Vacation in Gulf Region...Then Head to Maine

Why didn't the Obamas vacation somewhere on the Gulf?  Many Americans including me would have celebrated his solidarity with the economically embattled Gulf states.  He could have led by example in showing that this is an acceptable vacation destination.

After all, the President and his wife Michelle both declared to the media that the Gulf beaches were safe and open for business (see here and here).  And then they hopped on AF-1 to vacation in Maine.

Bad Move.

Latest iTunes Sensation - "The iPhone Antenna Song"

Actually, it's not on iTunes...yet...but Apple should offer this song NOW!  From Song a Day #561 on youtube.com:

If a bumper cures the iPhone problem, the question is, "How big of a problem was it in the first place?"

America Holding Its Collective Breath That Gulf Well Closure Holds

From The Oil Drum, "The picture that everyone has long been waiting to see became available when BP closed the choke lines on the 3-ram stack, and oil stopped flowing into the Gulf."

And the song "Bottle It Up" to hum today as the well testing continues:

By the way, The Oil Drum website is the BEST site reporting on the Gulf oil spill and well worth bookmarking if you are following this issue.

OMG - Atlanta Housewives in Charlotte Yesterday

Two of the most notorious "Atlanta Housewives" traveled in a tour bus to Charlotte's Thirsty Beaver yesterday!  Huh? What?  Nothing in that sentence makes any sense.

Why would Kandy and Kim and their crew even visit Charlotte?
Because it's a stop on their  music tour, of course! If you didn't catch their free concert tonight at 9 p.m. at nightclub Tempo  (another venue I've never heard of) , then you truly were "tardy for their party."

Check out this painful interview on Charlotte's NBC affiliate.

Facebook is Hazardous to Your Marriage

From Time Magazine to the Vancouver Sun, the media reports that divorce courts are noticing Facebook...but not in a good way.  Per The Sun article, "Facebook is the "unrivalled leader for online divorce evidence," says the organization, with 66 per cent of members citing it as the primary source. MySpace scored 15 per cent, while Twitter came in at five per cent."
Social networking gone too extreme they say.  Is Facebook a marriage killer or is it merely an effective tool for those already seeking their next spouse?

facebookcheating.com lays it all out.   Fascinating.

Why Do We Obsess So About the Bad Ones?

Lindsey, Mel, etc. Really...do you want or need more info on their depraved lives? Celebrity bad behavior is so 2009.  Bad energy.

Time to change the channel, hit ignore, delete, mute, whatever. If you want mindless (non-toxic) entertainment, you can go with this (video) or you can go with that.....

I rank the car-rapping hamsters hold the moral high ground.

Viva Espana! Spain's Tank Top Team Wins Soccer's 2010 World Cup

Alas World Cup play is over.  Spain wins and now all that's left is the mindless "celebration" of window-smashing and car-burning.  So bring on the celebratory chaos.

Will this year be the breakout for American soccer?  Or the vuvuzela?

I'm Baaaacccckkk!

Where have I been?  Wish I could say that I've been in the Gulf Region helping clean oil-stained animals; or Washington drafting, redrafting, re-redrafting mountains and mountains of legislation, or at the World Cup blowing on a vuvuzela.  I haven't.  Really, total capitulation to the mundane is closer to the mark.

I have however been bitten by the Blog Bug and feel the sudden urge to cut, paste and publish.  Now if only I can find subject matter on which to opine.  Requests will be considered (if anyone is still out there).
Hello?

But my new anthem IS summed up and brillantly vocalized by an American musical icon:
